Boy Scouts of America Troop 66
Boy Scouts of America is an organization for boys ages 11 (6th grade) to 18. The United Methodist Church recognizes Boy Scouts as a part of its mission program. First United Methodist Church - West Monroe is the Charter Organization for BSA Troop 66. Dr. Troy Bostick is the Scout Master. Troop 66 has about 30 active scouts and 5 trained Assistant Scout Masters. Statistically two out of every 100 Scouts attains the rank of Eagle Scout. In the six short years of Troop 66's history six Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. The Troop meets from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm each Monday night in the Fellowship Hall. The Troop is the most active in the Louisiana Purchase Council, attending Summer Camp and Winter Camp each year, as well as camping 10 out of 12 months (about 30 campouts per year). Scout Sunday
First United Methodist Church honors scouting on the second Sunday in February. Scouts from Troop 66 serve as acolytes, present the flags, take the offering, and perform the scripture reading.
