    The idea of selfless service is an important concept in most religions. Because God is perceived as residing in the heart of others, serving other people is considered an essential devotional practice.

Troop 66

Boy Scouts of America is an organization for boys ages 11 (6th grade) to 18.

The United Methodist Church recognizes Boy Scouts as a part of its mission program.

First United Methodist Church - West Monroe is the Charter Organization for BSA Troop 66.

The Troop is the largest one in the Pioneer District, which is composed of Ouachita, Union, Lincoln and Jackson Parishes. The Troop currently consists of 36 active Boy Scouts, and 8 trained adult leaders. The Troop is one of the most active in the Louisiana Purchase Council. The Troop camps 10 out of 12 months, including one week of summer camp and one week of winter camp each year. The Troop is also very active and involved in service to its community.

Troop 66 meets from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm each Monday night in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, West Monroe.
